meetLocal Website Development Proposal

Background

The objective of the meetLocal project is to create an online platform aligned to the emerging “work from anywhere” culture that makes it easy for workers to find and book tables at local venues for working face-to-face with colleagues, simultaneously giving struggling venues an opportunity to attract new business in the form of a meeting space for remote workers.

The first stage of the project is to develop, build and test the minimum viable product that will be initially trialled locally with venues and users in the Norwich area.

Requirements

Project Goals

  • Design and build a mobile-friendly WordPress-based website with Google Maps driven application
  • Clean, Responsive (device friendly) UI
  • Ability to search for local venues using post code search and amenity filters
  • User and venue log-in feature (added functionality such as the ability to leave reviews)
  • Moderated Venue Review system
  • iOS and Android app
  • Realtime booking system, either integrated or link to existing venue-subscribed services (ie OpenTable)
  • Event Diary

Administration Requirements:

  • Secure back end admin console
  • Ability to create individual venue information (preferably with bulk upload feature)
  • Editing rights over all content and individual pages
  • Ability to change branding (theme primary, secondary and tertiary colours; fonts and logos, brand name)

Required Elements

  • Home Page with intro, map and basic search
  • Venue single page template with venue description, details and ratings
  • Log in / sign up section
  • About Us section
  • Contact Us section
  • Terms & Conditions, Legal disclaimers, GDPR & Cookie notifications

Proposed Solution

The proposed solution would be to design and develop a bespoke WordPress theme along with application plug-ins utilising the Google Maps API and WordPress Custom Post Type administration.

The existing WordPress core functionality will be utilised and expanded to allow for Content Management, User Management and submitted content moderation. With the inclusion of Custom Post Types designed to allow venue data to be submitted stored and queried.

The theme will have a Customiser function built in to allow for rebranding (changing primary & secondary theme colours, fonts and logos) .

Should budget allow, the website can be wrapped as an app for iOS and Android devices; tested. packaged and submitted to Appstore and PlayStore.

Licencing

The theme and plug-ins will be licensed for use for the meetLocal project only. The application remains the property of the developer and cannot be resold without prior agreement with the developer.

Webhosting / Maintenance Contract

Hosting for the website is offered as an optional extra for an annual fee.

My webservers are UK based on premium high speed servers with UK based 24/7 fast response call-centre support (under 2 minute response). Site uptime is 99.99%. They are fully resilient, backed-up, firewall protected and running the latest secure software.

Annual maintenance and support is also an optional extra. The WordPress core files and plug-ins will be regularly updated to the latest versions (to prevent security risks). The theme will be fully tested before each update. Daily, weekly and monthly backups will be taken, stored and restored if required. The maintenance contract includes full support (12 hour response, 48 hour fix) minor changes and tweaks to the theme on request (within reason).
